Comparing architecture and urban planning

Architecture and urban planning are similar professions since they both have to do with the art of designing and creating places. Nevertheless, architecture is more focused on the organization and design of the spaces inside a structure, while urban planners are in charge of arranging the elements in a city, state, etc, in order to improve the life conditions of their occupants. In this terms, you might say that these two careers are both linked. They are not the same, but they complement each other because they equally make life for humans better. Architecture by improving the buildings and urban planners by improving the surroundings of the buildings.

Personnal Opinion

In my personal opinion, while Caracas has a very interesting and beautiful display of architecture, its urban planning could certainly use more improvement. In this city you can find a big variety of structures that are very famous thanks to their use of space, their light and their general appeal to the eye. On the other hand, maybe the urban plan of this city used to be good in a certain time, but times change. Now the population in Caracas has increased notably, so the organization regarding traffic, electricity and water isn’t as efficient as it could have been in another time. In consequence, Caracas nowadays tends to be quite disorganized as a city as well as insecure. In short, I think the architecture in Caracas is very good and has a lot to offer, but urban planning could be better.
